About The Nortel Networks Office Phone
Nortel Company History
Nortel Networks Corporation, formerly known as Northern Telecom Limited, Northern Electric and sometimes known simply as Nortel, was a multinational telecommunications and data networking equipment manufacturer headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. It was founded in Montreal, Quebec in 1895 as the Northern Electric and Manufacturing Company, and traces it lineage directly from the invention of the telephone in 1874 by Canadian Alexander Graham Bell in Brantford, Ontario. You can read more about Nortel's company history on Wikipedia.
Although famous for being Canada's largest bankruptcy case in 2009, Nortel is also famous for being at one time the largest worldwide provider of business telecom equipment. In fact, if you're reading this at work, there's a good chance that you have a Nortel Networks phone on your desk right now.
Nortel has left behind millions of high-quality office phones that continue to work year after year, and this die-hard technology continues on under the Avaya brand.
